We leveraged a unique human brain bank with >70 years of cognitive data, together with functional modeling of oligodendrocyte dysfunction, to discover that oligodendrocytes contribute to the severity of cognitive decline in aging. This was achieved through many collaborations, with the Lothian Birth Cohort Team (Simon Cox & co), University of Edinburgh (Anna Williams, Luise Seeker, Tara Spires-Jones, Jamie Rose), Northwestern University (Brian Popko, Emeric Merour), University of Toronto (Shreejoy Tripathy, Keon Arbabi) and USouthwestern (Lu Sun).
